Chromebooks and Web Cam Permissions

If you encounter issues with your Chromebook where certain users are able to login to Jigsaw sessions and the web cam works, but others are not able to this is most likely due to user permissions for the Chrome device.

If you are using a Chrome device at work or school, your network administrator can set camera and microphone settings for you. Once this is set or managed, the user is not able to override these permissions. A network administrator must grant you access.

What to do if web cam is not working for some users on Chrome devices:

  • Open Flash settings to verify web cam or mic is working: Test My Computer
  • Make sure to Enable Flash in Your Browser and add as an allowable site for each user that signs into the Chrome Device
  • Check with your Network Administrator to make sure permissions are set allowing you to access the camera or microphone
